Thinking of Granny Sue

It is with a sadness in my heart that I write this tonight. One of my best friends, a great storyteller, Susanna "Granny Sue" Holstein has experienced an unparalleled tragedy in her life. While travelling home from Iowa, her son Jon passed away in an automobile accident.

Words cannot express how greatly saddened I am for my friend and her wonderful family. She is a wonderful woman, a great West Virginian, and is one of the strongest, nicest people I have ever met. I have faith that she and her family will pull through, although it is certainly a pain that no one should ever have to bear.

If you would like to leave Granny Sue a message, you can do so on her blog:

Love and Peace to all.

Theirs *is* a wonderful family isn't it? -- I fell in love with Susanna and her whole family on my visit this summer, and deeply felt how lucky they were to have each other. I'm so glad she's got them to support her now; my heart's broken for her, for all of them, and it's such an awful helpless feeling.

You know I've never met her but through reading about her family life on her blog I feel like she is part of my family. You can't help but to love her. My heart is hurting for her. I pray that the Lord helps her and her family through the tragic death of her son.

Theirs is indeed a strong and loving family. Things like this make me realize even more how precious life is.

She is holding up as well as could be expected.
